Περιγραφη
Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Anastasia the Martyr of Rome in pine wood with carved decoration.
Saint Anastasia came from Rome and lived during the reign of Decius, the great persecutor of Christians. At a very young age he renounced the world and became a nun in order to dedicate himself entirely to Christ. She vigorously confessed her Christian faith and as a result she arrested by the Roman commander Probus and subjected to horrific torture. The Saint surrendered her soul to the Lord after martyred by beheading.
The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates the memory of the Holy Martyr Anastasia on October 29 of each year.
Kontakion of Saint Anastasia the Martyr of Rome
Third Tone
Made most pure, O righteous one, with chaste virginity's waters, and washed in martyric blood, O Anastasia, thou grantest unto those in need the healing of every illness, and to those who come with love thou grantest salvation; for the well-spring of unfailing grace, even Christ God, bestoweth power on thee.
