Mount Athos weathered lithography (icon) of Saint Christodoulos of Patmos in pine wood with carved decoration.

Saint Christodoulos was born in 1020 AD. in Nicea of Bithynia by pious parents. From a very young age he showed his love for Christ and monasticism. He practiced asceticism on Mount Olympus in Bithynia and then went to the Holy Land. In 1070 AD he decided to settle in Patmos where he founded the famous Monastery in honor of Saint John the Theologian with the help of the emperor Alexios I Komnenos.

In 1092 AD, due to the invasions of the Turks, he left Patmos and went to Evia where he practiced asceticism and devoted himself to the study of the Bible. He slept in peace on March 16, 1093 AD. and his remains were transported to Patmos. Saint Christodoulos the Miracle Worker was a prominent figure of our Church. The incorruptible Relic of the Saint is located in the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian of Patmos. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates his memory on March 16 of each year.
